What I can't stand is the way taking advantage of people in such a dumb way. If she is trying to test how good the applicants are. She should get them writting at her presence instead of sending them back home to do so. How can she tell whether this letter be written by the applicant him/herself or just get help from others? so all she care is the get the free work. She is not sincere of hiring at all. Just use it as a bait to rob free labour from new immigrants because new immigrants don't get the sense that here in Canada, you time, labour are valuable.

    我的一个朋友刚登陆不久，英文不太好。desperately need a job.
    昨天一个XX 理财集团（保险公司）叫她去面试，面试的中国人(associate manager)跟她说中国话，要我的朋友回家后替她写一封中文和英文的信给她的客户和朋友问候圣诞快乐并将附有圣诞礼物。并告诉我的朋友说会有很多人跟我的朋友竞争，哪个的信写的最快最好，将来就雇佣谁作part time, work from home, pay $7-8/hour. 然后还说很理解她刚来加拿大，没有车牌，没有工作经验，找工作很难的处境。

    这其中的猫腻，大家看看吧。

      I interviewed with this insurrance company once.
      After I got there, the so-called manager (actually just rent a table, and a room in that insurance company's office) start talking me to be a agent by calculating how much money I can make if I can sell how many issurance per month. And after that, try to talk me to buy their computer and their software. And then gave me a form to write down all the details of my personal information. I felt wierd, and just told him I had another appointment and ask him to arrange another time for me to complete that long form.

      All my dear new immigrants friends, please be aware of all those traps, and don't let anyone (unfortunately most of them are Chinese) to take advantage of our desperation of needing a job.

      Don't give much personal information out unless they appear to be a sincere employer. You never give your date of birth, SIN number. Only after you sign a employment contract with your employer.
