本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I believe all of the people here would be interested in deals to
Asia. :-)
I have been looking for the best deals all the time, just in case I
can get a good fare to go back home.
Here are some tips;
1. Consolidators have the best fare. For international flight, especially to Asia, I found usually the consolidation tickets are among the lowest fares.
Consolidation tickets are bought by consolidators and distributed to
travel agencies. Normally they don't deal with individuals. You can
buy those tickets from travel agents, as you have already known, lots
of Chinese travel agencies have good fares.
Obviously, those tickets have lots of restriction, non-refundable,
changing fee, no stop-over, etcs.
So find a good travel agent and buy from them.
2. Cathay Pacific is a big competitor to Air Canada in Canada. I love
their promotion miles deal. Only 30,000-40,000 AA points to HKG (hong
kong) while Air Canada needs 75,000 points to the same destination. I
recommend you consider accumulating AA points and UAL (United
Airline).
So it is another option.
3. Cathay pacific's All Asia Pass.
It is a great deal, for $1499 from Vancouver and $1599 from Toronto,
you can fly to 17 cities in Asia within 21 days.
It is a fantastic deal if you want to visit more than one city in Asia.
We are going to take advantage of this deal to visit Japan, China,
India and Hawaii next year. (pretty much it is a done deal).
4. Malaysia Airlines' US$747 to Asia from Los Angels
They copy Cathay Pacific's All Asia Pass, but at better price. The
good thing about it is Shanghai and Beijing are included in this deal
while you have to pay extra CA$600 to add Beijing in Cathay Pacific's
deal.
Definitely it is one of our options too, if we plan to include Beijing and Shanghai, which I doubt.
The drawback is they don't depart from Canada.
5. If you watch closely, Cathay Pacific had a fare to Hong Kong from
New York that was only US$500.
......
That is all for today. :)
