Regarding installation cost for hood, general fans need 2 guys about 2.0hrs to 3.5 hrs to complete depends on the difficulty of the fans itself (It is not include the most expensive or the simplest one). The more expensive works your contractor is keep doing daily , means more insurance cost for them. Of course, if you do not care about safety and reputation of your installer, you may find a cheaper guy with out any protection for your property.
Anyway let your contractor knows if your hood/fans is $50, or $3000 when you negotiate a deal to avoid future dispute.
