Top 5 picks for Victoria if you're only going to be in town for one day (from one of my friend)

- Butchart Gardens (I was there three times in the past year, and it is worth it); they have a better high tea than the Empress.
- the Inner Harbour/downtown
- Oak Bay for tea and a walk near the marina
- Sooke is about 50 minutes from downtown Victoria, very easy to get to (head out along Douglas Street, follow the exit to Colwood and Sooke, keep driving), but if you are only in town for one day, it may be too much of a drive (with the ferry ride over and the 30 minute drive downtown to start)
- if you decide to go, I suggest that you stop on the way to Sooke at Royal
Roads University to see the Italian and Japanese gardens.

Once you drive through Sooke itself, French Beach is about another 23 kms from there.
