    • It might not be a good idea to consider novels as an English learning resource. In novels there are too many literary words that we don't have chances to use in our daily life. I'm not sure how good your English is, but for me, -heater(美帝苏修); 2011-11-11 {395} (#7059803@0)
      the mid term goal is to know the exact meanings and usages of the "essential" 3,000 English words.

      For example, a few months ago, I used the word "literate" but I actually meant to use "literary".

      Another example: a few months ago, I used the word "another" but actually I meant "one more".

      These essential words are way more important than the fancy words you find in novels.
