The immigration officer told me that,
First of all, under the new law, as long as you live in CA for two years within five years timeline, not necessary to live continuously, just accumulately, then you will be fine.
Second, for the new maple card, you could send out your application form by using your friend's address in CA, but, (always have but) you have to go to somewhere, ( sorry I forgot) to get the card in person. After the immigration office gets your application form, it will send you a letter explaining what you should do next, such as where you can get the maple card. Is that clear?
Here is the number you can try to call, if you want to ask the immigration officer by yourself to confirm. 604-666-2171
Here is the number for the maple card:
1-800-255-4541
BTW, they won't start sending out the application fform for the maple card until Sept. 15, 2002. You still have time.
All the best, lumlum ^_^
