The strike by Toronto's outside workers will affect a range of public services, from garbage and recycling collection to municipal golf courses.

WASTE COLLECTION:

Former Toronto, Scarborough, East York, North York: Cancelled.

Former Etobicoke and York: Collection is privatized so it will continue.

Apartment buildings: Garbage collection will continue in all areas but recycling will not in former East York, North York and Scarborough.

All yard waste, appliances and household hazardous waste collection is cancelled.

During a strike, city transfer stations and six emergency drop-off sites will be open to accept waste seven days a week .

TRANSPORTATION SERVICES:

Replacement of traffic signs, routine road repairs, street cleaning, bylaw investigations, some grass cutting cancelled.

Some emergency repairs and permit requests for utility work, film and parking will continue.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, CULTURE AND TOURISM:

Enterprise Toronto and small business offices closed, except in North York.

Toronto Island ferry service: Cancelled. Island residents to be advised of arrangements.

Nathan Phillips Square, Mel Lastman Square and other civic centre events cancelled, along with farmers' markets.

PARKS AND RECREATION:

City parks open for casual use only. No turf and ground maintenance, public washrooms will be closed.

All permits for parks, tennis courts, sports fields and civic squares will be cancelled.

All golf course, greenhouses and observatories will close.

All city-run pools and arenas will be closed, including board of education facilities. All programs and permits will be cancelled. Outdoor splash pads and wading pools will not be maintained.

Community centres and arenas operated by boards of management will remain open.

All recreation programming, community centres and fitness centres will be closed.

COMMUNITY SERVICES:

All public libraries, except Armour Heights, Flemingdon Park, Port Union, Todmorden and Thorncliffe, will be open.

Children's Services, homes for the aged, shelter housing and support and social serviceswill operate with reduced service.

Hostels will remain open but support services cancelled.

Dental clinics in Etobicoke, Scarborough and East York, and the Sexual Health Clinic in Etobicoke will be closed. Some emergency services available.

The Works needle exchange and methadone program at 277 Victoria St. will be closed.

Animals Services buildings at 19 River St. and 2700 Eglinton Ave. W. will be closed. But sites at 821 Progress Ave., 1300 Sheppard Ave. W. and 146 East Mall will remain open.

Civic centres: Public access restricted to the ground floor only, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES:

Planning, building permit and licence applications and building inspections will be processed on a reduced basis.

Emergency building and taxi safety inspections will continue. Municipal standards (bylaw) inspections will continue on a reduced level.

Water and property tax bills and payments: All cashier counters at city hall and other civic centres will be open.

Parking tag operations: First appearance centres at 1500 Don Mills Rd. and 970 Lawrence Ave. W. will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Metro Hall centre will be closed.

Closing dates for all tenders, requests for quotations, requests for proposals and requests for expressions of interest will remain unchanged.

The St. Lawrence Market complex, St. Lawrence Hall and Public Archives at 255 Spadina Road will remain open.

All council, community council, committee and public meetings will be cancelled.

All six provincial offences courts will remain open.

Wedding chapels will remain open Monday to Saturday.

CLOSED OR CANCELLED:

Restaurant inspections, family health services, and health education programs.

Civic centres and wedding chapels in Scarborough, East York, Etobicoke and York.

All tours and official city events.

The public archives at 255 Spadina Road.

URBAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES:

Planning applications, amendments to the Official Plan or zoning bylaws and committee of adjustment will not be processed.

Committee of adjustment hearings.

Building permit applications and building inspections.

All municipal licensing and standards inspections.

All trade, building and vehicle licences.

Taxicab driver training.

Parking tag operations: First appearance facilities at Metro Hall and 970 Lawrence Ave. W.

Cashier counters for water and property tax bill payments at all civic centres.

Closing dates cancelled for all tenders and requests for quotations, proposals and expressions of interests.

EMERGENCIES ONLY:

Social services offices in North York, Scarborough West, Etobicoke South, downtown Toronto.

Scheduled vehicle safety examinations will be allowed.

Water and wastewater services: Emergencies only.

OPEN:

Homes for the aged

    • For me, this means there will be NO summer camp for my daughter. I have to think about my daughter's summer vacation all over again. DAMN IT!
      • sorry for hearing that. 我觉得这此罢工对大家的日常生活影响会更大。街道,公园没有人打扫,路面维修也没有了,城市面貌恐怕要大变样了。

    • This is realy a bad news. Nobody comes and collects garbages tomorrow. We have to send it ourselfves. Damn it! I wish garbages service could be privatized instead.
