As my understanding, the main point in citizenship application is you are willing to maintain social tie with Canada. They talked about delete this from Citizenship Act and just use 1095 days instead, but it went no where.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛As far as I know (I may be wrong), in current Citizenship Act, 'willingness to maintain social tie with Canada' is still a criteria. The 1095 days is actually only one of the prove of this tie. Several years ago, somebody propose to change this and just use the 1095 day as a hard criteria since the old one is too much based on 'judgemental' some times.

One example, I have a friend worked for a company based in Toronto. He was constantly assigned to projects in the US by his company. He was still got paid here, had bank account here, bought house here and file tax return here. When he filed citizenship application, he had far less than 1095 days. He showed judge that he had strong social tie with Canada. And his company also provide document provng that he was required to go the US for business. His application was approved although it took a bit longer.

On the other hand, if you leave Canada right after you file the application, especially for a prolonged period of time, CIC may question your willingness to maintain the tie with Canada although you have stayed here for 1095 days. And, they may further have some doubt on whether you actually stayed in Canada for 1095 days. Either way, they may ask you for some prove for the 'tie'.                 • 顺便说一句,我发现这些处理入籍的人,其实对规定也不很了解. 处理我case的人跟我说如果我在境外签字交申请, 申请日期要从我重新进加拿大那天算,所以居住的日子就要重新从入境那天算. 我当时以为自己弄错了,郁闷的不行.回来找遍了cic所有地方也没有这么说的 -greenflower(greenflower); 2008-1-21 {125} (#4204412@0)
                  , cic call center也跟我说那是不对的. 说白了, 那个人就是找理由要扣我的case, 就因为我交表后跑了,他们就要核实交表以前的一切东西.
