General Oral Fluency Route: You can take this route if you want to focus your English learning in more oral and lesser in grammar writing portion. There are 8 levels in this route, after completing level 7 (not8) of this route, you can apply to EAC149 which is a pre-College English course is based on grammar and essay writing. After you completed EAC149, you can apply to EAC150 which is the regular College English credit course.
Compositions Route: You can take this route if you want to base your ESL learnings with more focus on grammar with minor integration of oral communications. This route consist of 5 levels, you can apply directly to EAC150 after completing level 5.
No one is stoping you from taking both routes, but they bring you to the same desigantion (EAC150). My cousin's test result was General route: level 5 and Compositions route: level 2. So both routes will require him to complete 4 ESL courses to get to EAC150.
I know it might be very confusing when I tried to explained this to you, my cousin didn't understand it as well, he just want to learn English and didn't care to plan which route was best for him. So I just gave him advices on the facts about those 2 routes the same way i posted up here. Now he said I just make the decision for him as long is the quickest and the best way to get to EAC150.
