The 4Ps of a Successful Interview (ZT)

* Know yourself. Take stock of your skills, knowledge, values, needs, beliefs, interests and personal characteristics.
* Learn about the company and the job requirements. Access brockures and Web sites or visit the office in person.
* Know what you can contribute. Remember that the employer is looking to find out three things: can you do the job? will you do the job? and will you fit with the company's style? Keep these needs in mind during your interview and take opportunities to demonstrate how you will meet those needs. Focus on accomploshments from previous work, volunteer, and school roles. How do your skills relate to the position?

2. Practice:
* Practice what you will say and how you will say it. Be ready for potential questions but don't memorize questions and answers. Develop key points about yourself.
* Ask relevant questions during the interview. Make a list of a few things you want to know about the company. Make sure these are questions you wouldn't be expected to know from your research.

3. Participate:
* During the interview, get involved, show enthusiasm, and be on your best behaviour.
* Use correct posture, leaning slightly forward to show interest.
* Make eye contact with the interviewer.
* Listen closely to the questions.
* When answering questions, think before you respond. Be direct and don't ramble.
* If you want the job, make sure the interviewer knows it.

4. Be Positive:
* Most people feel anxious when attending a job interview. Realize it is simply a meeting to share information and determine if the job is a win-win situation for all.
