Later yesterday, a Scarborough man was shot to death after his girlfriend opened the door to their apartment and two gunman pushed past her.

Christie, whose 19-year-old girlfriend is expecting their child next month, had escaped injury when he was shot at in the past. His car had recently been vandalized in what may have been an ongoing dispute, a relative said.


"As soon as I heard my brother was dead I assumed it was revenge for something in his past," Sean Christie said.

"He was a wonderful person and he was trying to turn his life around. Andrew was looking forward to the birth of his son and trying to make a family and something of his life."

    Victims range in age from 15 to 33, Peel police say

    Five sex assaults in the past two months in Mississauga may have been committed by the same man, Peel police believe.

    The victims have ranged from 15 to 33. But there could also be others who haven't reported their attacks, police said.

    "The descriptions have been pretty similar but we're not certain we are looking for one man or two," Peel Constable Dameon Okposio said. Police said the five attacks since Nov. 6 occurred within a few blocks in the Dixie Rd. and Bloor St. area.

    Another attack Nov. 3 in Meadowvale could have also been committed by the same person, police said.

    In each, the women have been approached by a man from behind. In some of the incidents, the women were punched and knocked to the ground.

    Police won't reveal whether the victims were raped but it's known the woman in the Nov. 3 assault managed to fight off her attacker, who is believed to have followed her after she got off a Mississauga transit bus.

    The most recent incident occurred Friday at 8 p.m. when a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted walking in the area of Fieldgate Dr. and Bloor St.

    Her attacker was described as 5-foot-10 to 6 feet. He had a bulky build with big hands and was wearing a dark hooded jacket with a gray scarf.

    On Thursday, a 19-year-old woman was sexually assaulted at about 7:10 p.m. while walking in the area of Williamsport Dr. just east of Havenwood Dr. In this attack, the culprit is described as about six fee tall with a medium build and big hands. He was wearing a large puffy black nylon jacket with the hood drawn tight, dark denim pants. A black scarf or neck warmer concealed his face.

    A 33-year-old woman was sexually assaulted about 4 p.m. on Dec. 8 while walking in the area of Bloor St. and Havenwood Dr.

    She was attacked by a man she described as 18 to 20, wearing a beige 3/4-length coat with a hood and a black scarf.

    On Nov. 20, a 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at about 8:15 a.m. while walking through a covered pathway near Bloor St. and Havenwood Dr. On Nov. 6, a 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in the Bloor St. and Fieldgate Dr. area. The man responsible in these two attacks was 18 to 20, 6 feet tall with an average build with dark brown eyes. He was clean shaven and wore a green toque with green stripes, a black puffy winter coat and blue jeans.

    On Nov. 3, an 18-year-old woman was attacked at about 12:20 a.m. soon after getting off a Mississauga transit bus at Falconer Dr. and Kinsmen Gate near Meadowvale. Police believe she was followed onto the bus by a man at the Meadowvale Town Centre bus terminal.

    She was knocked to the ground and was sexually assaulted but screamed and managed to fight off her attacker who ran away.

    Police said she was attacked by a man about 20, with a thick chubby build. He was wearing burgundy sweat pants, a black toque and white running shoes with orange or red trim.
