Employees covered by certification who are members of the Union, shall maintain their membership in good standing as a condition of continuing employment

All employees who are covered by the certification with the Union shall, as a condition of continuing employment, authorize a deduction from their pay cheques of the amount of the dues, levies and assessments payable to the Union by a member of the Union.

The Employer shall provide the Union with a monthly list of new and terminated employees specifying the status, position and wage classification level of each employee.

The Union tries to protect the certified employee’s right , for example, the job seniority, investigating complaints of an urgent matter, sending a steward accompany an employee, at her request at a meeting called by the Employer, while disciplinary action is anticipated, etc.

On the other side, the professional regulating body – the professional association’s mission is safe and appropriate practice, regulated by members in the public interest, and achieved by promoting good practice, preventing poor practice, and intervening when practice is unacceptable.     网友讨论工会问题, 我觉得工会不是一个人想加入就加入的, 跟一个公司的运转机制有关。 有的公司工会权利大, 有的权利小,有的根本就没有工会。一个人, 也不是说我想加入工会, 然后有工会背景去找工作的。工会的权利取决与UNION与MANAGEMENT的合同规定。在我们公司, 是一本300多叶的小册子, 叫“ AGREEMENT”。其中关于LAY OFF EMPLOYEE的部分简单是这样的,首先按工作年限排出SENIORITY,如果一个工作年限25年的人的POSITION要被REMOVED,并不以为这个人要下岗,他可以TAKE 其他JOB POSITION, 只要他能干这个位子,并且现在赶这个位子的人比他年轻, 年限少的将被BUMPED OUT, 但被BUMPED的这个人也可以通过同样的PROCESS 去BUMP OTHER EMPLOYEE。 所以,裁个人不容易,可能要一年时间, 才能裁掉一个人。当然, 除了工会UNION外, 还有SOCIETY, 跟工会类似, 但权利不如工会大。

      • 不是的, 工作30年以上的,公司会给出优惠的 VOLUNTEER EARLY RETIREMENT,一般人也可以要求VOLUNTEER LEAVE,我的有的工作仅20年左右的同事一次可以拿30多万补偿金,不过他们还是不想走。
