whether you choose to pursue a master degree or a designation like CGA totally depends on yourself and where you would like to be in the next ten or twenty years.

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛If you want to stay in Canada forever and currently have a so-so job, I would suggest you get a CGA as it is more practical and cost less if considering the money you will earn during your CGA study. In addition to that, CGA is a common requirement from most of the employers, so it is easier for you to swich job once you obtain the designation.

On the other side, if you still consider going back to China or any other countries such as US, Europe, it is better to get a master degree. As far as I know several universities in Canada provide Master of accounting program, including Uof T, UWO and Brock Univeristy. Of course, Uof T is the best and its admission requirements are higher than the other two. It requires both GMAT and TOEFL. After finishing the program, you can waive many CGA (CMA) courses. But it is time-consuming(the program requires two- year full time study), cost a lot of money (total tuition is about Can$50K) and you will still need to look for a job after graduation. I believe you know how frastrated the job hunting is.

In regard to the degree, personally I feel to get a degree in US is much better than Canada. I am not saying that Canadian university is not good. But as to Master of accounting, you will have more choices if you decide to study in US and less study time.
