Yes. The key point is never tell them your number first. Second, if you do not want their number suprises you, it is better give them your salary history first, and tell them you really like the job, money is not the major thing for you, so in this case, if they think you are good and the position is matching your salary history, you will at least get the better offer than before. If the position is below your salary history, most of times they will try to offer you the maximum number they can reach. Good Luck

I agree with funnyguy. You can say that your expectation is negotable so that you will not lose the chance for further intervew. You know that cash income is only part of the total compansation. You can actually get a lot of other benefits, so do not emphasis the cash income.

Try to find sitable jobs is the main objective, cash income is not that important, it will come by naturally.
