Warming Chinook winds can bring spring-like conditions in winter, while spring offers both skiing and golfing opportunities. The summer climate is pleasant with low humidity, warm temperatures and daylight hours stretching until 11:00 p.m.
For spring and summer visits bring light sweaters, cotton slacks, water resistant jacket or raincoat as well as normal lightweight clothing. Pack warmer sweaters, a light ski jacket or a windproof anorak for fall travel. In winter, bring ski apparel, heavy coats, gloves and winter boots. An anorak and sturdy walking shoes or lightweight hiking boots are useful in all seasons.
There is a wide selection of appropriate and high quality outdoor clothing available at shops in both Banff and Lake Louise.
The highest highway point in Banff National Park is Bow Summit at 2069 metres (6787 feet above sea level). The Town of Banff elevation is 1393 metres (4,538 ft. above sea level), elevation in Lake Louise is 1534 metres (5,033 ft. above sea level), Canmore is is 1350 metres (4,300 ft. above sea level), Japser is 1058 metres (3,471 ft. above sea level), Hinton is 1025 metres (3,363 ft. above sea level) and Grande Cache is 1280 metres (4,200 ft. above sea level)
